A suicide bomber blew up his explosives on Monday morning near the election commission’s headquarters in Kabul, killing at least one policeman and injuring six others including four civilians, authorities said.
“A suicide attack struck near a vehicle of an IEC staff member in Dispatchery area at around 8am, blowing his explosive-laden vest just metres away from the election commission’s main compound,” said Kabul Police Spokesman Basir Mujahid.
He said police spotted the terrorist and fired at him, which triggered his suicide vest. The explosion left a policeman killed and six others including two police and four IEC staff members wounded.
The wounded people shifted to hospital for treatment and investigation started over the incident, he added.
The IEC Deputy Spokesman, Abdul Aziz Ibrahimi, has confirmed the bombing that struck near the commission, saying four of their employees were wounded.
