KABUL: A suicide car bomber targeted a convoy of NATO troops in capital Kabul on Tuesday morning, leaving at least three foreigners injured, Kabul Police said.
Ebadullah Karimi, spokesman for Kabul Police told Afghanistan Times a suicide bomber, driving a car full of explosives, targeted vehicles convoy of foreign troops in Shah Shahid area of Kabul city.
He said three foreigners in the NATO vehicle were injured. No civilian was injured or killed, based on initial reports, spokesman said.
The area was cordoned off soon after the attack by Afghan security forces. The powerful blast has also broken window glasses of the surrounding houses.
NATO’s mission Resolute Support press office in Kabul confirmed the attack was against coalition forces. However it said no troops in the convoy was killed and they were still gathering more information.
Taliban, who recently intensified their armed attacks against Afghan and foreign troops, took responsibility for the attack. Their spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said several foreigners were killed and injured in the attack.
This was the second attack against NATO troops in recent two weeks by Taliban. The previous attack left two civilians dead and two foreigners and 22 civilians injured.
