KABUL: Tajikistan and China have denied any plans to build a military base near Afghanistan borders.
In a statement, Tajikistan’s Interior Ministry has ruled out building a military base on the country’s border with Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Wang Wenbin, has said Beijing has no plans to build a military base in Central Asia.
Moreover, Tajikistan acknowledged that Dushanbe and Beijing will be carrying our military drills on the Tajikistan border with Afghanistan.
This comes against the backdrop of speculations that China intended to build a military base to prevent the potential pouring of terrorists to its soil from Afghanistan.
