KABUL: Kabul Administration on Wednesday asked Pakistan to make sincere efforts to curb terrorism instead of giving irrelevant remarks that they don’t help resolve any problem.
Reacting to Pakistan’s ambassador’s remarks on recent suicide bombing in Indian administered Kashmir, Afghanistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked Pakistan to refrain from making irresponsible remarks.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Zahid Nasrullah on Tuesday warned that the ongoing Afghan peace talks would be affected if India restored to violence against Pakistan following a deadly bombing in Kashmir region that killed over 40 Indian soldiers.
The remarks made as tension between the nuclear-armed neighbors has risen sharply over the Kashmir attack that killed 40 Indian paramilitary police in a suicide bomb attack claimed by the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad militant group.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday summoned Pakistani ambassador and handed him a diplomatic démarches, in protest to his latest statement, Idress Zaman Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs tweeted.
Moreover, the ministry in a statement said that Afghanistan appreciates efforts made by any country in support of realizing peace in Afghanistan.
“Principles of Foreign Policy of Afghanistan are shaped by good neighborliness, mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries,” the statement added.
“Ministry of Foreign Affairs deems the recent remarks of the Pakistani ambassador, “Afghanistan peace talks would be affected if India resort to violence against Pakisan in response to the last week’s attack in Kashmir’s as irrelevant and contradiction with Pakistan’s commitment with regards to realizing peace in Afghanistan.”
It added that Afghanistan has always wanted a reduction in any tension in the region, and the differences to be resolved through dialogue and peaceful means. “The government of Afghanistan once again calls on Pakistan to act upon its commitment with regards to Afghanistan, particularly those in relation to pace and refrain from making irrelevant statements that do no help solve any problem.”
Reacting to irresponsible remark made by Pakistan ambassador, President Spokesman Haroon Chakhansori said “terrorists’ hideouts, which are located in region, will impede peace process in Afghanistan as well as stability in the region.
He added, “These sanctuaries and terrorism must not use as tools against others, and all countries of the region, particularly Pakistan should take sincere practical steps against terrorism in order to have stable region.”
“We hope Pakistan instead of giving baseless remarks, take practical cooperation in order to eliminate terrorism in the region,” he added.
