AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A swarm of militants attacked checkpoints of security forces on Herat-Kandahar highway on Saturday.
The commander of the 207 Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA), Taj Muhammad Jahid, told TOLONews that the Taliban militants attacked the checkpoints on Saturday morning and the clashes ended around 10:00 am.
He said that there were no casualties to Afghan forces in the clashes. No information is in hand about the casualties inflected on the militants. Jahid said that military forces are scanning the area for bombs placed by the militants. The Taliban haven’t commented about the attack yet.
According to eyewitnesses the highway was closed before traffic.
It is worth mentioning that the Taliban militants have mounted their attacks on security checkpoints in different parts of the country.
