AT-KABUL: Taliban militants have been blocked roads leading to at least six districts of eastern Paktia province, creating problems to the residents, officials said on Saturday.
The police chief of Paktia, Zalmay Oryakhel said that security forces have launched an operation to open the roads and push the militants back as soon as possible.
He added that the militants attacked security forces from their hideouts, however, the forces were quick enough in reaction.
Local officials said that Taliban militants have used explosives to detonate rocks by the side of roads in Tanga-Showat area so that the rocks could block the roads. The rocks have blocked the roads to Janikhel, Lazha Ahmadkhel, Dandi Patan, Lazha Mangal, Chamkani and Zazi districts, the officials said.
The governor of Zumrat district said that on Friday night the Taliban also blocked the road that connects the district with Gardez—the provincial capital. He also said the Taliban have warned the people to stay at homes.
