KABUL – The Taliban administration in Afghanistan has declared decisive actions taken against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants over the past year, resulting in the arrest of many of them. Abdul Mateen Qani, spokesperson for the interim Interior Ministry, revealed that the country is currently devoid of any operating militant groups. He emphasized their commitment to security, stating that they have incarcerated around 35 to 40 TTP members, alongside a substantial number of ISIS captives.
The announcement comes amidst a surge in militant attacks on Pakistan, with the latter attributing the violence to TTP and claiming the existence of hideouts in Afghanistan. Qani asserted the Taliban’s dedication to maintaining the country’s security, vowing to identify and detain individuals causing disturbances.
Since reclaiming power in August 2021, the interim Taliban rulers stress their commitment to fostering positive relations with neighboring countries. Qani reassured that Afghanistan’s territory will not be utilized against any nation, including its neighbors, as they strive for peaceful coexistence.
