KABUL: A Taliban commander along with his 23 fighters has renounced violence and joined the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANDSF) in northern Faryab province, official said on Saturday.
The commander Mullah Ikram along with his 23 fighters laid down their arms in Grezwan district of the province, 209 Shaheen Military Corps Spokesman Mohammad Haneef Rezai said in a statement.
It has been for years that Mullah Ikram was busy in destructive activates under the cell of the Taliban group.
Ikram denounced violence after knowing that the Taliban group through taking order from Pakistanis has been harassing people, looting their goods and capital to use it in terroristic goals, the statement added.
“Surrendered commander Ikram realized his mistakes and denounce violence,” the statement added.
Mullah Ikram said he has witnessed crimes committed by the Taliban group and decided to join security forces along with his fighters. He vowed to stand against foreign mercenaries to rescue the Afghan people from Taliban’s brutality.
