KABUL: After Pakistan’s missile strikes on eastern Afghanistan, the Taliban destroyed the border fence erected by the Islamabad government in the first border clash with the Pakistani military.
Tasnim news agency reported that Taliban special forces destroyed the border fence Pakistani military had built along the Durand Line in Lalpour district of Nangarhar province.
According to Nangarhar provincial media office, Pakistani troops were trying to strengthen the border fence and establish military installations, but were met with strong reaction from Taliban forces.
The Taliban removed the fences and moved the barbed wires to Afghanistan, issuing a warning to Pakistani military against such measures.
Mohammad Bashir head of Nangarhar security department, who was in charge of the operation, told Pakistani forces to stop erecting border fences or “the border area will become the front line of war”.
This is as Zabihullah Mujahid, deputy minister of information and culture and a spokesman for the Taliban, recently called the Pakistani government un-Islamic.
“Pakistan’s political framework does not represent an Islamic system,” said Mujahid, “Their system is not Islamic. Religion is not important to the Pakistani government.”
He had previously told a news conference that Pakistan had repeatedly promised to cooperate in many areas but was not living up to its promises.
