KABUL: Taliban militants have destroyed a bridge on the Kabul-Jalalabad second-lane road in the Surkh Rod district of eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday night, provincial officials said on Friday.

The bridge was blown up after the Taliban militants attacked a checkpoint of the Afghan security forces in the Fatehabad area of ​​Surkh Rod district, the Nangarhar media office said in a statement.

The shattered road was used by people from Sararud, Khogyani, Sherzad and Hesarak districts as well as the second Kabul-Jalalabad highway.

The Taliban group has not yet commented in this regard.
