KABUL: The Taliban have suspended thousands of their members from their duties for abusive practices, their officials said.
Lutfullah Hakimi, who leads a relevant commission, said Saturday over 2,514 Taliban members were so far suspended, including administrators in some provinces. He said their ranks in some provinces have been cleared from abusive people.
The commission is one of the newly founded bodies of Taliban that was created after the Taliban seized power on August 15 last year and is responsible to identify the Taliban affiliates who harass people, have links with ISIS-K, and do illegal activities.
Hakimi said their activities of identifying and dissociating people are based on complaints and information of common people, reports of mainstream media, and social media.
The rank-and-file of the IEA has repeatedly been accused of beating people, cutting boys’ hair, checking their self-phones, and in some cases imprisoning former security forces that all oppose the overall policy of the Taliban and breach the general amnesty announced of supreme leader Mullah Hebtullah Akhundzada.
