KABUL: Dozens of Taliban insurgents were killed Monday after they attackedDehdadi district near Mazar-e-Sharif city staging an all-out assault in a failed attempt to capture the district, officials said on Monday.
“The Talibanin a massive onslaught attacked the Kot-e-Barq area in Dehdadi district, but faced strong resistance from security forces and were defeated,” said a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense.
“Taliban faced huge casualties and dozens of the militants were killed during ground and air operations that followed their assault,” it said. “Afghan commandos are now present in the district and situation is under control.”
This comes as the Taliban in a wave of attacks captured two provincial capitals in Kunduz and Jawzjan provinces.
