KABUL: Taliban foiled a suicide bombing plot in Kabul with security forces killing a terrorist who tried to blow his explosives inside the congested passport office.
Deputy spokesman for interior ministry Aqil Jan Ezam said that an assailant, who was trying to enter the passport office premises on Thursday afternoon, was spotted and targeted on the spot.
He did not say whether the suspected attacker had been a suicide bomber or not.
Based on a new order, the passport office allocates Thursdays to only process passport applications for Taliban forces.
But Ezam stressed that no one was injured in the incident.
However an explosion took place at the time of the incident, according to the General Directorate of Passports.
So far no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the planned attack.
