KABUL: The Afghan security forces have detained an important commander of the Taliban group in southern Helmand province.

Ministry of Interior on Sunday said that Haji Raees, a key commander of Taliban militants arrested during a clearance operation carried out by GCPSU in Nawa district of the province.

The arrested Taliban commander was involved in different destructive activities and terrorist attacks as well as collecting information about activities and movement of ANDSF, the ministry said in a statement.
