KABUL: Local officials in northern Afghanistan say that the Taliban militants had killed Sayed Aleem Sadati, a member of the provincial council member for Samangan, after abducting him in the neighboring province of Baghlan.
The officials said that Sadati was abducted along with four others by the Taliban fighters on Saturday morning in the Chashma-e-Shir village of northern Baghlan province.
Raz Mohammad, head of provincial council said that after Sadati’s murder, the militants had released his death body on Baghlan-Balkh highway.
He also added that there is no clue about his four other companions yet.
Provincial governor’s spokesman, Sediq Azizi confirmed the event, saying that the body was transferred to Samangan after medical examination on Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, a number of residents in Baghlan province said that Taliban approached to the Balk-Bghlan highway, searching and bothering the passengers.
The Taliban group has not expressed any remarks in regards yet.
The event comes amid controversial peace talks, which is currently under discussion between the US diplomats and Taliban representatives in Qatar’s capital Doha.
