KABUL: The Taliban militants have killed at least 15 public uprising forces and civilians in western Ghor province on Friday night, provincial official confirmed Saturday.
Another three were wounded in the clashes between the Taliban fighters and uprising forces plus residents of Dawlatyar district, said provincial council member Fazul Haq Ehsan.
According to Ehsan, the clashes erupted after a leader of tribal rejected joining the Taliban rank.
Another provincial council member Hamidullah Motahid also confirmed the report, saying the clash started after a group of Taliban attacked some security outposts in Poshta Noor village in Dawlatyar district.
According to him Lal Bahadur Frotan, a tribal elder in the area, and two others were wounded in the attack.
Abdulhaqi Khatibi, spokesman for Ghor governor, confirmed the incident but said they have not received adequate information about the attack.
According to TOLOnews, he said the government forces have been sent to the area.
This comes as a senior Army commander Fawad Andarabi was killed in an operation in Ghor province last week as he was deployed there to ensure the security of Dawlatyar district.
