KABUL: Two Afghan engineers were killed by the Taliban rebels in southeastern Logar province, local officials said Wednesday.
“On Tuesday evening, the Taliban fighters killed two engineers in Porak village of Puli Alam (provincial capital),” said Provincial Governor’s Spokesman, Shamshad Laraway.
The killed engineers were sent by Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs to monitor a training center that was launched last week in the province.
“Militants targeted the engineers on the way back to Kabul,” Laraway said. No one was arrested in connection to the attack so far, however, the police have started investigation in regards.
The Taliban have not commented at this point yet, but the Taliban group has often behind such attacks.
The group also warned Afghan media outlets of dire consequences if they did not stop anti-Taliban advertisements.
Meanwhile, US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Reconciliation and Taliban negotiation members are going to hold seventh round of peace talks set for 29 July in Qatar.
