KABUL: The Taliban fighters have killed 20 civilians and wounded 40 others during the three-day ceasefire agreed between the government and militants during Eid-al Adha, security official said on Monday.
Spokesman for the ministry of interior, Tariq Aryan said that the Taliban have violated their commitment during the ceasefire. “Killing of people and aggressive attacks during the partial truce and ceasefire in Eid-al Fitar and Eid-al Adha indicate the lack of commitment on the part of the militants,” he said in a tweet on Monday.
The Taliban group did not say anything so far.
In the eve of Eid-al Adha, the government and Taliban agreed on a three-day ceasefire. However the ceasefire was following with widespread security threats, a number of political figures and international organizations has welcomed the move and called for its extension.
Earlier, the High Council for National Reconciliation said that it has discussed the extension of ceasefire with several aspects.
