AT-KABUL: The Afghan National Police (ANP) on Wednesday killed a senior Taliban leader, along with his five associates in a special operation carried out in Wardak province, security official said.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior said that Noorialai was a key Taliban commander and killed in an operation launched in Ibrahim Khel village of Wardak.
Five insurgents, loyal to the Taliban commander were also killed in the operation.
The killed Taliban commanders had carried several evil designs in the province, the statement said, asserting that the commander was also involved in kidnappings as well as attacks on telecommunication towers.
Taliban sources were not immediately available to comment.
Taliban leader was killed when the Afghan National Security and Defence Forces as well as Afghan Air Forced had been intensified attacks against militant outfits in the country.
In the past one week, the Afghan security forces killed scores of the militants, including Daesh fighters nationwide.
