AT-KABUL: The Taliban insurgents are recruiting children as soldiers to fight for the group in the north-western province of Ghor, local officials said Wednesday.
The provincial human rights chief Zabiulalh Jawad has told the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty that the organization had credible evidences and documents to prove that Taliban were recruiting children for fighting against security forces.
Provincial governor’s spokesman Abdulhai Khatibi also confirmed the remarks, saying the group was recruiting children in the areas under their control.
“The recruitment of children as soldiers has been formed to fight the Afghan government and kill the people who are working for the government,” Khatibi added.
Separately, the Daesh terrorist group is also recruiting children and forcing girls to marry its fighters in eastern Nangarhar province.
Daesh terrorists were searching houses to find new recruits including children as well as to identify young girls and women for forced marriages, Haji Azim Khan, a tribal elder in the Achin district said.
