AT-KABUL: The Taliban shadow district chief for the Bati Kot was killed along with his colleagues in an Afghan airstrike in eastern Nangarhar province, security officials said Wednesday.
Provincial police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashraqiwal said that the strike targeted Taliban hideouts in Chahar Dehi area around 4:30am.
He identified the shadow district chief as Halim alias Qahraman, saying eight others including a Taliban’s judge Maulawi Abbas were among the dead.
Elsewhere in the province, Mashraqiwal said that eight other militants were killed during airstrikes in Miagan and Larkari areas of Hesarak district Tuesday night.
The governor’s spokesman for Laghman province, Sarhadi Zwak said that a Taliban commander for Alishang district was among the dead.
Zwak identified the slain militants’ commander as Abdul Halim who was involved in several attacks on Afghan forces on Kabul-Jalalabad highway.
Taliban have not yet commented about the incidents.
