AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Taliban militants executed a man and woman to death on adultery charges in Daryami district of northeastern Badakhshan province, officials said on Tuesday.
Police spokesman Ahmad Zahid Omari told Pajhwok Afghan News the accused, Gul Ahmad and Nigar were married and had illegal relations. They were publicly killed on Monday.
Moreover, a member of provincial council, Dr. Ahmad Basheer Samim, said the executed man and woman were neighbors in Yamchian village and they had continued meetings in each other’s house.
He added militants were arrested them at a time when the man entered into the woman’s house.
The decision to kill them openly was taken by a Taliban which is illegal verdict, he slammed Taliban
“We have repeatedly brought Taliban’s presence in the district into the notice of security officials and stressed on the authorities to launch military operation and public uprising members to eradicate militants from the district but the provincial officials did not entertained our calls, he regretted.
He came hard over the Taliban’s unauthorized act, saying Gul Ahmad was a 50-year-old man and had a wife and children while Nigar was of age 40 and had six children and their economic situation was not satisfactory, he concluded.
The Taliban militants have not yet commented into the matter.
