By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: National Security Adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar on Wednesday warned Taliban to be ready for military action if they denied being part of the government-initiated peace process.
“Doors of the peace process will not be open forever. The time has limitation,” Atmar said in a joint news conference with Russian ambassador to Kabul at the handover ceremony of the 10,000 AK-47 rifles donated by Moscow.
“If the Taliban are not joining the peace drive during the specified period, we will ask Pakistan, China and the United States to take military action against them, because they promised in the roadmap [drafted by the Quadrilateral Coordination Group] to do so,” the adviser said.
“Those Afghan Taliban who are fighting against their homeland and people, must benefit from this opportunity and join the reconciliation process. And if they refuse to join the process, not only Afghan government, but all three other counties will take military action against them,” Atmar warned militants.
Those who are Afghans and are fighting against our people, must join peace and those who are not Afghan and are fighting against Afghan forces and people, we don’t have any peace program for them, he noted.
He hoped that the ongoing peace process would put an end to the ongoing violence.
