KABUL: Dozens of Taliban fighters have been killed and wounded in fighting against the Afghan security forces within past 24 hours across the country, defense ministry said on Monday.
The ministry said in a statement that 455 Taliban rebels were killed and over 232 others wounded by in operations conducted by the Afghan security forces- supported by Afghan Air Force- in Jalalabad, Paktiat, Paktika, Logar, Kandahar, Herat, Fariab, Jozjan, Mazar-i-Sharif, Samangan, Helmand, Takhar, kondoz and Baglan province.
The ministry of defense did not provide details about the Security forces causalities. Taliban haven’t said anything so far in regards. This is comes as armed conflicts between government and Taliban have been continuing nationwide.
Due to the ongoing severe clashes, thousands of families have been forced to leave their residences in several provinces. With the departure of the U.S. and NATO forces, the Taliban have retched up their offensives, mounting pressure on the government to meet its wishes on the negotiation table.
