KABUL: A large Taliban’s narcotics factory was destroyed in a clampdown conducted by Afghan security forces in western Farah province on Tuesday night, officials said on Wednesday.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Fawad Aman said that the largest Taliban’s narcotics factory was destroyed by the Afghan Commandos Special Forces in Bakwa district of the province.
“Large amounts of narcotics which was the main source of Taliban’s income were set on fire during the commandos operation,” he added.
This is as the Afghan security forces intensified military stings against the Taliban in different provinces.
At least 186 Taliban insurgents were killed and 94 others were wounded during a series of military crackdowns in the past 24 hours, the ministry of defense said on Wednesday.
Backed by the Afghan Air Force, the Afghan security forces carried out operations and counter attacks against the Taliban militants in Nuristan, Laghman, Logar, Maidan Wardak, Zabul, Uruzgan, Herat, Balkh, Jawzjan, Helmand, Badakhshan and Takhar provinces.
