Terror spate impact: High-profile delegation to leave for Pakistan Thursday

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Following the recent spate of terrorist attacks in Kabul, a high-profile delegation is expected to leave for Islamabad today (Thursday) to hold talks on security relations with the Pakistani authorities, official said on Wednesday. Sayed Zafar Hashimi, the Deputy Presidential Spokesman, said the Acting Defense Minister, Masoum Stanikzai, Foreign Minister, Salahuddin Rabani, and the chief of National Directorate of the Security (NDS), Rahmatullah Nabil, are among the delegation to leave for Islamabad.

He added that Afghan delegation during discussions with Pakistani officials would present them a plan how to eliminate the insurgent hideouts as Afghanistan can no more tolerate their safe havens in Pakistan.

According to a Pakistani Daily The Express Tribune, the Afghan delegation would also ask the Pakistani government to arrest and expulsed Taliban leaders from its soil.

Pakistan officials would be asked not to allow the injured Taliban insurgents to be treated in Pakistani hospitals and also Pakistan should halt its financial support to the Taliban, the paper quoted sources. The delegation is visiting Islamabad after President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani accused Pakistan for devastating blasts in Kabul in which more than a hundred people were killed and nearly 400 wounded. Ghani’s outburst came after he held telephonic conversation with the Pakistani Prime Minster, Nawaz Sharif, discussing the possibility of resumption of peace talks between Kabul and the Taliban as it was delayed after the announcement of Mullah Omar’s death in a Pakistan’s port city Karachi. However, President Ghani did not say that the door of peace talks should be closed, but he said that those who believe in the humanity, and don’t destroy their own homeland by taking dictates from foreigners, the government is ready to hold peace talks with them.
