Kabul: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban has announced the end of the Qatari technical team’s mission at the Kabul airport.
This ministry thanked the Qatar government in a statement and said that this country played an important role in reopening and keeping the Kabul airport active after the fall of the previous government.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban added that “this humanitarian mission of Qatar is unforgettable at such an important historical stage”.
The ministry said that Qatar “has always proved that it stands by Afghanistan like a brother in difficult situations”.
Qatar has close relations with the Taliban in the past and now. This country hosted the political office of the Taliban during the last two decades.
Doha also hosted talks between the Taliban and the US, which led to the Doha agreement and the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan.
With the collapse of the previous Afghan government and the Taliban’s control over Kabul, Qatar took over the management of Kabul Airport.
Currently, the Taliban have entrusted the management of Afghanistan’s airfields, including Kabul, to an Emirati company.
