KABUL: Hekmatullah, a Faryab native, risked his life and embarked on an outlawed voyage to Iran, only to die an excruciating death in the trunk of the smuggling car after in a terrible blaze.
His mourning father, Amir Mohammad, has been unable to see his son’s dead body because Iranian officials haven’t handed over victims of the deadly car blaze in Yazd two weeks ago. Not being able to shed any more tears, he says Hekmatullah lost his mother at the age of five and he had to raise him motherless.
Memories of a son whose premature death has left his father shocked is painful for him. He described his son as responsible and passionate, who always did household chores and even took care of his younger siblings.
Amir Mohammad wants justice for his son who died in a tragic car fire after Iran police shot at them. He said Iran is not handing Hekmatullah’s body to his relatives who are in Iran. He asked the Afghan government to grant his wish and help bring his son’s body to Afghanistan.
Three Afghans were killed and four injured in Iran’s central Yazd province after their vehicle was shot at by Iranian police, triggering the fire.
Following the incident, Afghans had taken to social media to denounce Iranian police after a video of a car carrying Afghan refugees set ablaze in Iran went viral, arousing new anger weeks after Afghan officials accused Iranian border guards of drowning migrants.
