AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Unknown gunmen have abducted three civilians on the Kabul-Ghazni highway, said an official on Sunday.
The provincial council head of Ghazni, Khaliqdad Akbari, told media that the abducted people were on way to their destinations from Malistan district to the provincial capital when unknown gunmen stopped their vehicle in Mushki area of Qarabagh district on late Saturday.
He further said that five passengers were kidnapped but later a mother along with her child were released but the remaining three civilians are still in the captivity of the gunmen at an unknown location.
He said that security forces have started investigation to release the hostages safely. He said their fate is still unknown.
Akbari said that the abduction of the civilians is the work of the Taliban militants.
However, the Taliban militants have not yet claimed the abduction.
Fragile securities on roads have caused many such incidents this year. Deash (IS) which has increased its foothold in the country had recently abducted seven civilians including women and children from Ghazni province and later they were found beheaded in southern Zabul province.
