KABUL: At least three key members of the terrorist group of Haqqani network have been held by security forces in southeastern Paktika province.
A statement sent by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) office in Paktika on Monday said the three Haqqani members were arrested from a hideout in Kin Kazh area of Geyan district the other day.
The source said the hideout belonged to Sardar, a designated district chief of the Taliban for Geyan district but during the operation Sardar was not at the compound.
The source added that a weapon depot belonged to the insurgents was recovered during the operation.
According to the statement, 13 suicide vests, a number of bombs, light and heavy weapons and ammunition were recovered from the depot.
Nine Pakistani identification cards were also found in the depot, the statement said.
It added that the three arrested terrorists are under further interrogation.
Haqqani Network is responsible for several deadly attacks in the country.
