Three more cabinet picks elaborate future programs

Abdul Zuhoor Qayomi-KABUL: Three more nominated ministers on Saturday briefed members of the Wolesi Jirga (WJ) or Lower House of the parliament over their future programs.

Ministers-designate for Labor, Social Affairs and Martyrs, Nasrin Oryakhail, for higher education Farida Mohmand, and for counter-narcotics Salamat Azemi were those who explained their plans.

Creating more employment opportunities through a committee, implementation of labor laws, establishment of technical and vocational training centers for youth and disabled people were underlined as top priorities by Ms Oryakhail.

Seeking job markets inside and outside the country, provision of required life-sustaining facilities to street children, scholarships for disabled youth in foreign universities were other key contents of her future policies.

Farida Mohmand told the WJ that capacity building of the universities is her top priority. She said that due attention would be paid to girls education in insecure parts of the country.

The minister-designate also stressed on transparency in the university entrance exams and said the exams would be monitored and controlled in order to allow only talented students to get admission in the state-run higher education institutes.

Salamat Azemi said that number of the rehabilitation centers in the country would be increased to rehabilitate drug addicts. She said that anti-narcotics efforts would be accelerated with help of the regional countries.

Azemi further said that data about addicts including male, female and children would be collected in a professional manner.

Second deputy of the WJ, Nazir Ahmad Ahmadzai, expressed satisfaction over future programs of the nominees and urged the government to introduce the picks for the Ministry of Defense, Central Bank and the Attorney General Office as soon as possible because the country was passing through a critical juncture and the organizations were managed by caretakers.
