Township in Kabul gets digital phone system

AT-KABUL: Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology on Sunday opened the digital wire-telephone system in a Kabul township.

Telecommunication Minister Abdul Razaq Wahidi said that this was the first telecommunication project providing services trough optical fiber system in Afghanistan.

He said the ministry of telecommunication would provide about 6,000 digital lines for residents of the Omid-e-Sabz township and which would “soon extend up to 12,000 lines.”

He said the ministry was determined to inaugurate another digital telecommunication project in Ahmad Shah township which both estimated around $12.5 million.

“The work to connecting Ahmad Shah township by digital phone is ongoing and will be completed in a few months with the capacity of 18,000 lines.

He said that digital phones would provide high speed internet services with suitable prices.
