AT-KABUL: At least 22 people have been injured in a suicide truck bomb explosion in eastern Nangarhar province on Monday.
Ataullah Khogiani, spokesman for the provincial governor office, said that a suicide bomber detonated his explosive laden vehicle near police headquarters in Sorkhrod district of Nangarhar. The blast wounded 22 people including seven security officers, he added.
Khogiani said that the wounded people were shifted to hospital for treatment. He added that one of the injured persons was in critical health condition.
He said that it was a heavy explosion, which severely damaged a mosque, 25 shops, police headquarters and the district’s court building.
The provincial governor in press statement termed the perpetrators of the bombing as enemies of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
