KABUL – In a fiery speech at a forum in Pennsylvania, former US President Donald Trump lambasted Biden administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, branding it as the most embarrassing moment in the US history. Trump cited the abandonment of $85 billion worth of equipment and leaving “hundreds of Americans” behind as egregious failures.
Trump’s scathing critique targeted the current administration, accusing it of facilitating Afghanistan’s emergence as a major seller of military equipment, effectively profiting from American assets left in the wake of the withdrawal.
The timing of Trump’s remarks coincides with President Joe Biden facing intense scrutiny over his handling of sensitive information, including matters related to Afghanistan, as revealed in a report by Special Counsel Robert Hur. The report highlighted Biden’s alleged mishandling of classified data during his tenure as vice president, raising concerns about his fitness for office.
Described as an “elderly man” with a “weak memory” in the report, Biden’s purported lapses in recalling key events during interviews have intensified doubts about his leadership capabilities, especially concerning national security.
In response to the report, Biden emphasized his cooperation with the investigation and stressed his compliance in returning classified documents. However, Trump criticized what he perceives as selective prosecution, alleging political motivations behind the charges against him.
