KABUL – Türkiye has extended its support to Afghanistan once again with the arrival of the 21st “Goodness Train,” carrying 730 tons of humanitarian aid. Under the coordination of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the train reached Herat province on Jan. 11, where it was warmly welcomed by officials from both countries.
Prominent figures including Türkiye’s Herat Consul General Sinan Ilhan, Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) Deputy Secretary General Şükrü Can, and Afghan Red Crescent Vice President Şahabettin Dilaver attended the reception. The aid package includes 4,000 tents, 43,000 blankets, 5,000 kitchen sets, 10,000 food packages, and essential winter supplies such as flour, clothing, and hygiene materials.
In a statement on X, Türkiye’s Embassy in Kabul emphasized the critical timing of the shipment, which aims to help Afghans endure harsh winter conditions. “With the Goodness Train trips, symbolizing the Turkish people’s unwavering support for Afghanistan, Türkiye will continue to stand by its Afghan brothers and sisters whenever needed,” the statement read.
Departing from Ankara on Dec. 20, the train marks another milestone in Türkiye’s ongoing efforts, with nearly 10,000 tons of aid delivered via 21 such missions. Previous deliveries have reached tens of thousands of vulnerable Afghan families, providing much-needed relief amid challenging times.
This act of solidarity further reinforces Türkiye’s commitment to aiding Afghanistan in its most pressing times of need.
