AT-KABUL: Edible items send by the government of Turkmenistan for families affected by natural disasters and war arrived in Jawzjan province on Saturday.
Turkmenistan’s consul general, Bazaar Bahi, told media-persons in Mazar-i-Sharif that at least 1,000 conflict and disaster-hit families would benefit from the assistance.
He said that Ashgabat has decided to build a mosque and child training center in Jawzjan province while a trade center in Balkh province. The consul general said that the projects would increase commerce and trade activities between the neighboring countries.
Afghan and Turkmen presidents have agreed in their recent meeting which took place on January 21 to speed up the work over the projects, he said.
Acting governor of Jawjan, Bahi Mirad, thanked Turkmenistan for its support to the natural disasters affected people of his province.
He said that people in his province were looking desperately for uplift schemes and Ashgabat’s support at this critical hour manifested the brotherly relations between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
