AT-KABUL: Following a tip-off security forces rescued two abducted children and arrested kidnapers in a raid carried out in Kunduz province, said an official source.
While handing over the children to their families, the provincial governor Omar Safi said that all accomplices of the kidnapers whether government officials or civilians would be arrested. He said that two kidnapping gangs were busted in the recent rescue operation.
“At least 142 cases of kidnapping had been registered in the province over the past 11 months,” he added. Safi described the two busted groups of criminals as very dangerous who were active in the province over the years. “Former officials could not arrest the groups, as they were being supported by some bigwigs,” he said.
Safi said that he has dismissed police chief of 3rd district of Kunduz city and two other officials alleging them of negligence in their duties and introduced them to judicial organizations.
