AT-KABUL: The Afghan security forces have killed two young girls along with another 27 Taliban insurgents in eastern Nooristan province, security officials said Monday.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Defense said that two young girls armed with suicide vests were killed with other 27 insurgents in an operation carried out against militants in the Want Waigal district.
In addition to that, 31 other insurgents were also received injuries during operation, the statement added.
However, there is no immediate comment posed by the Taliban and other insurgent outfits yet.
The operation came after the provincial governor Hafiz Abdul Qayyum on Sunday said that dozens of militants launched a complex attack on Want Waigal, but the Afghan security forces repulsed their attack with strong intention.
He said that the militants attack the district form different sides.
He also said that foreign insurgents, including Arabs were among the Taliban fighters, who were looking to capture the district though coordinate attack.
