AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The National Directorate of Security (NDS) foiled a major terror attack in Jalalabad city while killing two would-be suicide bombers.
In a media statement the Afghan spy agency said on Monday that its operatives were searching vehicles for suspected terrorists in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, when spotted the terrorists. The would-be bombers were driving the explosives filled vehicle from Lal Pura district via Gerdi Ghous area in Momand Dara district and planned to attack Jalalabad.
Spotting the vehicle, the security forces have opened fire on the vehicle and killed the bombers who were wearing suicide vests.
According to the NDS, the attack was planned by the Taliban commander Abdul Halim Awalzai and the militant group’s shadow district chief for Lal Pura district.
