AT-KABUL: The Minister of Interior Noor-ul-HaqUlumi on Tuesday that he will leave no stone unturned to establish and improve accountability and transparency in the ministry.
According to a press release issue by the Ministry of Interior (MoI), Ulumi told a seminar that capacity and skills of police have increased than the past, adding that he will make all out efforts to improve monitoring on activities of police force.
Stressing on serious fight against corruption, the minister said the ministry will welcome criticisms on gaps and shortcomings and as well as suggestions for filling the gaps. “The MoI is ready to bring further transparency and accountability in its activities,” he added.
“We have always been criticized for our shortcomings, therefore we need to work seriously,” he said.
He called on the police force to ensure implementation of the Constitution, human’s rights and safety of citizens. “We should perform our duties impartially and in accordance with the laws and systems of the country,” he added.
On the same occasion, Abdul Hakim Nijrabi, head of Monitoring Debarment of the MoI, said the main goals of his office are familiarizing MoI staff with rules and principals of the ministry, fight against graft, considering and obeying values of human right and respecting women’s rights.
He said tens of policeman including high ranking officers are under investigation by the department after complaints against them.
Participants of the seminar also discussed mechanisms of monitoring and evaluation in the ministry in a bid to bring more transparency in their activities.
