Kabul: The United Nations has scheduled the third Doha meeting, which will gather special representatives for Afghanistan from various countries, to take place on June 30 and last for two days. UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric stated in a recent press briefing that the meeting aims to “increase international engagement with Afghanistan in a coherent and structured manner.”
During the briefing, Dujarric also provided details about the visit of Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN Under-Secretary-General, and her meetings with Taliban officials. DiCarlo invited Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s foreign minister, to participate in the third Doha meeting during her visit.
Representatives of Afghan civil society will also be present at the meeting.
In addition to meeting with Taliban officials, DiCarlo also met with several Afghan figures in Kabul, including former Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Abdullah Abdullah, the former head of the High Council for National Reconciliation.
