KABUL: Head of the High Peace Council’s secretariat, Umer Daudzai met with the United Nations special envoy for Afghanistan, Tadamichi Yamamoto on Saturday in Kabul, discussing the ongoing peace efforts, call for the consultative Loya Jirga and the role of the United Nations over the Afghan peace process.
Daudzai thanked the UN for cooperating with Afghanistan, emphasizing on the strength and expansion of its cooperation in different sections particularly in the peace process.
He also expressed happiness over a suitable opportunity for Afghan peace in the national and international levels. Daudzai said that the peace efforts needed further cooperation from regional states.
The UN special envoy for Afghanistan assured Daudzai of the UN’s continuing cooperation especially in the peace process, saying that Afghan peace was one of priorities for the United Nations and the International Community.
He praised the high peace council’s efforts for peace and emphasized on his support for the efforts.
Yamamoto added that the UN office in Kabul would cooperate with Afghan government and the high peace council in facilitating of the peace process.
