KAABUL: The United Nations says that thousands of people have displaced as the clashes between Afghan forces and Taliban fighters have expanded to big cities.
Taliban who attacked the cities of Herat, Lashkar Gah and Kandahar in the west and south, are engaging with government forces who try to prevent them enter the cities.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said Tuesday that 10 civilians were killed and another 85 wounded in the past three days in Lashkar Gah city of Helmand province.
Five people were killed in Kandahar city, capital of the province of the same name. Another 42 civilians injured.
It said that civilians pay the most price of the clashes, adding that most of people are living under the shadow of fear.
The UNAMA said that Taliban’s ground and Afghan government’s air attacks have inflicted most losses on the people, adding that aimless firings damage healthcare centers and residences.
