Kabul: “Amina Mohammad”, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, stated that during her trip to Afghanistan, she discussed women’s rights with the members of the Taliban Ulama Council in Kandahar.
She mentioned on her Twitter that she tried to secure the rights of Afghan women during this meeting.
The Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations said “In Kandahar, I met with provincial executive officials and the Council of Scholars to seek a space for dialogue to secure the rights of women and girls.”
Amina Mohammad expressed her hope that ways will be found to remove the Taliban’s restrictions against women in Afghanistan.
Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations after her visit to Afghanistan two weeks ago said that progress has been made on women’s rights in Afghanistan, but a lot of work needs to be done in this regard.
The most senior female official of the United Nations has stated that we hope that we can finally reach a stage where the bans are lifted and the restrictive orders are annulled and women and girls can return to schools and workplaces.
