Kabul: The head of the office of the United Nations Deputy in Afghanistan stated that girls’ schools should be reopened in order to provide the ground for the continuation of international aid to Afghanistan.
Markus Potzel said in a meeting with local Taliban officials in Nangarhar that girls’ schools should be reopened in order to provide the basis for the continuation of international aid to Afghanistan.
He added: “We will continue to provide aid in the fields of health; reconstruction, refugees, education and human rights, and also girls’ schools should be reopened because this issue is important to the global community.”
Potzel said that the international community gave a lot of aid during the previous Afghan government, but it was not used properly and the problems in this country still remain.
On the other hand, Mullah Mohammad Naeem Akhund, the governor of the Taliban in Nangarhar, said that they are waiting for the decision of the Taliban leadership regarding the reopening of girls’ schools.
