AT-KABUL: Afghan civil society called on the United Nations to build up pressure on Pakistan to hand over those Taliban leaders living in its soil to Afghanistan.
In a press conference on Wednesday, representative of the civil society said that the terrorist attacks that result in killing of innocent civilians are not acceptable to them.
Sulaiman Ali, a civil society activist, said that scores of Afghan civilians are being killed in the terrorist attacks, engineered by Pakistan’s spy agency and army. “We call on the UN to urge Pakistan to hand over Taliban leaders living in Pakistan to Kabul,” he added.
This comes at a time that a wave of terrorist attacks in Kabul this week killed tens of innocent civilians. President Ashraf Ghani recently called on Pakistan to stop training and supporting terrorists on its soil.
Amin Zazai, another activist, slammed the government for its failure to bring peace and enforce law. “We want the government to enforce law and order, but we saw that the situation is deteriorating by the passage of every day,” he added.
In the meantime, a number of lawmakers urged the government to hand over the documents to that UN that proves Pakistan’s support to the Taliban militants. They said that the government should urge UN to put pressure on Pakistan to restrain from supporting Taliban.
