AT-KABUL: A female employee of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) was killed by unknown gunmen in the city of Kandahar, official sources said on Monday.
Spokesman for the provincial governor, Samim Khpalwak, said on Monday that Toor Pekai Olfat, an Afghan national, was on her way to the office from home when two gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on her. She was killed on the spot.
UNAMA in a media statement confirmed Olfat’s death and said “the incident is under investigation.”
No group has claimed the responsibility.
