KABUL: The U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, Zalmay Khalilzad on Monday rejected propaganda spreading over ceasing support to the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) as part of any agreement with the Taliban with emphasizing that “US will defend Afghan forces now and after any agreement with the Taliban.”
In a tweet message Khalilzad said; “A Reuters report quoting two unnamed Taliban commanders alleges we will cease support of the Afghan forces as part of any agreement. Not true!”
“No one should be intimidated or fooled by propaganda! Let me be clear: We will defend Afghan forces now and after any agreement with the Taliban. All sides agree Afghanistan’s future will be determined in intra-Afghan negotiations,” he further added.
Moreover, he also brushed aside rumors over interim government, saying no discussion made with the Taliban in this regard.
“As the Taliban spokesperson stated earlier, we have had no discussions about an interim government. Governance decisions are for Afghans to make in intra-Afghan negotiations,” Khalilzad said.
It is worth mentioning that Afghan forces progressed very well and shinned as a legal force clearly in the past years in combat grounds in every parts of the country.
The Afghan masses strongly support the Afghan security forces, and praising their sacrifices and achievements made in the line of duty to protect their motherland.
Afghan forces inflicted huge casualties to the terrorist groups, including the Taliban who have lost moral to fight against Afghan security forces in the battleground that’s why conducting unhuman attacks, such as suicide bombing that kills and wounds innocent Afghans across the country.
