Kabul: Rina Amiri, the U.S. special envoy for Afghan women and human rights, underscored the crucial role of women’s full involvement in society to prevent the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan.
In a post on X, Amiri urged the international community to ensure that “inclusion, human rights, and the full participation of women in society cannot be overlooked or downplayed.”
Her remarks come amid growing concerns over the deteriorating human rights situation in Afghanistan, particularly concerning women and girls.
Richard Bennett, the UN special rapporteur for Afghanistan, conveyed in a video that his latest report portrays a bleak picture of the human rights landscape under Taliban governance, with a significant segment of the population, especially women and girls, being denied their basic rights.
