KABUL: The United States’ new offers to Taliban during the negotiations has caused the peace deal postponed, sources familiar with the talks say, as the deal was expected to be finalized earlier.
Meanwhile, political parties have welcomed latest progresses in the US-Taliban talks, saying that an intra-Afghan dialogue to be held some 10 days after the insurgents’ deal with Washington.
The sources said Saturday that all parties agree with the intra-Afghan talks except the government.
Taliban negotiators are said to be busy in consultation with their leadership before resuming talks with the US envoy for Afghan peace, Zalmay Khalilzad who temporarily paused the negotiations some 10 days ago.
Now despite some progresses claimed by the two sides of negotiations, some new offers made by Khalilzad, delayed the final deal signing as the militants were not ready to accept.
But here in Kabul, political parties consider the deal final, saying that Washington had asked for ceasefire and violence reduction as two new points.
These political entities say that the intra-Afghan talks would begin on the 10th day of US-Taliban negotiations.
The US senior officials say that President Trump wants to drawdown the number of some 13,000 US troops in Afghanistan.
